Frequently Asked Questions
The Course
What level of teacher is the course appropriate for?
The course is appropriate for all grade levels pre-K through 12th grade. At key points in the course the lessons will break into different videos for different grade levels or subject areas. This assures you that the material will be applicable to your grade level and subject area.
Who should take this course?
Most schools sign up their entire teaching staff and key instructional paraprofessionals to take the course. Other schools allow teachers to volunteer to sign up for the course, but this is less effective because it does not help the teachers who are “reluctant” to implement RTI to move to the next level. Pat Quinn’s strength lies in his ability to make implementing RTI simple and natural for every teacher, whether they are eager to get started or reluctant to try new things.
My school is not implementing RTI. Should I take the course?
The principles of Response to Intervention will help every teacher increase learning in their classroom.
I am already busy. Do I have time for this course?
If you are implementing RTI at your school, you will quickly become overwhelmed with paperwork and record-keeping if you do not learn a system to handle it all. This course teaches you simple ways to manage the requirements of RTI. The course will save you hours and hours of work by teaching you efficient ways to implement RTI.
The Content
Does the course teach “Standard Protocol RTI” or “Problem Solving RTI”?
The two models of RTI implementation have about 80% in common and about 20% different. The course teaches the core principles from both models and is appropriate for schools implementing either model. If you don’t know the difference between these two models of RTI – don’t worry – the course is exactly what you need!
Does the course teach a “3-Tier Pyramid” or a “4-Tier Pyramid”?
The course is appropriate whether your school is implementing a 3-tier model or a 4-tier model, and both are explained in the first lesson. If you don’t know the difference between these two models of RTI – don’t worry – the course is exactly what you need!
What if the course is not what I needed?
You have nothing to worry about – the course is completely risk-free. If you are not completely satisfied any time in the 12 months after you register for the course you can receive a full refund.
Will this really help the teachers at my school implement RTI?
Yes, it is guaranteed. If this course does not help your teachers implement RTI at your school, you will receive a full refund. It is guaranteed to work.
We trained our staff last year on RTI and the teachers never implemented what we taught them. Why would this course be different?
The difference between this course and every other type of training is that it allows teachers to implement the techniques one simple step at a time between each lesson. This way it is not overwhelming and scary. It is a very natural progression. Pat Quinn’s emphasis throughout the course is to make this “do-able” for every teacher. He does not talk in theory; he talks about how real teachers in real classrooms can actually do this. His background and experience as a teacher brings a realistic viewpoint into time management, paperwork and record-keeping.
I have been to Pat Quinn’s “Motivating Unmotivated Students Part 1” seminar and his “Motivating Unmotivated Students Part 2” seminar. Is this course new material or the same?
Thank you for attending those two seminars! As you know, there is no overlapping material between those two seminars. Likewise, this course on RTI is completely new and contains different material for either of those seminars. The focus of this course is on implementing Response to Intervention at your school.
