Don’t Miss this outstanding one-day Seminar!
Maximum Tier One: Improving Full Class
Instruction
Featuring Pat Quinn – “The RTI Guy!”
This one-day seminar will give teachers, coaches, and administrators
Step-by-Step instructions to improve the quality of Full Class Instruction.
AND
This seminar will also show you: How to get your most reluctant teachers to
change the way they teach.
About the Presenter:
Pat Quinn is the nation’s leading expert on implementing Response to
Intervention and the author of the nation’s most popular newsletter on RTI. For
the past five years Pat Quinn has been researching schools RTI implementation
and has come to the following conclusion: The most important step in the RTI
implementation process is to offer high-quality instruction to every student
every day in the regular classroom.
PLEASE NOTE the Fine Print:
If you are looking for more theory
about RTI – this is NOT the seminar for you. There are plenty of good seminars
out there that will explain theoretically how Response to Intervention is
supposed to work.
Also, if you are looking for
an overview of the entire RTI process, this is NOT the seminar for you. Exactly
7 minutes will be spent in the first session discussing the full RTI process and
where Tier One Full Class instruction fits in that context. After that the
entire day will focus on concrete steps you can take at your school to improve
the instruction that every student receives.
Every Attendee of this seminar will Learn:
-
Exactly what “Outstanding Full Class Instruction” looks like
-
How to make simple changes to your current lessons to improve their
effectiveness
-
Where to find great free resources to improve your instruction
-
How to measure and document the fidelity of full class instruction
-
How to get even your most reluctant teachers to change the way they teach
A Quick Definition:
“Full Class Instruction” is often referred to as “Tier
One” in a school that is implementing Response to Intervention. Whether or not
your school is implementing RTI, the success of your students relies on the
quality of instruction students receive each day in the full class setting. The
techniques described in this seminar will work at any grade level and in all
subject areas. You do not need to be implementing RTI at your school, or using
any specific model of RTI at your school.
Every Attendee of this seminar will Receive:
-
A Seminar Workbook loaded with examples and resources
-
Access to additional online resources for every grade level and subject area
-
An audio CD reviewing key strategies from the seminar - take the highlights home
with you!
-
A DVD documenting successful RTI implementation in three different schools
-
A Collection of resources to help improve instruction for English Language
Learners
-
Monthly follow-up phone calls with the presenter - the learning never stops!
A note from Presenter Pat Quinn:
For years schools have worked to implement a tiered system of small group
interventions to help students who struggle to learn. Overlooked in many of
these efforts is the instruction every student receives every day in the
classroom.
I believe this: Your efforts to help students through
a system of small group interventions relies on classroom teachers delivering
outstanding full-class instruction.
I am so happy to bring this new seminar to your area.
There is so much confusion about what “outstanding instruction” looks like, and
about how difficult it is to implement. This seminar will simplify what
“outstanding instruction” is, and what it is not. It will also show you exactly
how to get there without throwing away all of the good things you are currently
doing. I am especially excited about our afternoon session on “getting even your
most reluctant teachers to change how they teach.” I have spent years studying
how schools change, and the strategies you will learn in this one session will
make this seminar worth every penny. I look forward to meeting you at this
seminar, to sharing ideas and strategies with you, and to continuing this
discussion after the seminar with follow up phone calls each month.
Sincerely,
Pat Quinn “The RTI Guy”
Conference Schedule
8:00 – 9:00 Registration and Continental Breakfast
9:00 – 10:15 Session One Exactly What Does “Outstanding Full Class
Instruction” Look Like
With so much conflicting and confusing information out there, it is no wonder
that teachers stuggle to define what great instruction looks like. This session
will simplify outstanding instruction so it is clearly recognizable, measurable,
and do-able. If you are looking for more theory, please do not attend this
seminar. This seminar is filled with concrete steps you can take the very next
day to improve the quality of instruction in any classroom.
10:30 – 11:45 Session Two Instructional Strategies that Work
This session is loaded with simple strategies you can implement the next day in
your classroom without throwing away all of the good things you are already
doing. YES, these strategies work at all grade levels. YES, these strategies
work with large class sizes. YES, these strategies work even though half the
class is three years behind grade level and the other half has behavior issues.
Yes.
12:00 – 1:00 Lunch (on your own)
1:00 – 2:00 Session Three How to get ALL teachers to Improve Instruction
You don’t have to work in a school for long to realize that some teachers are not eager to
change. Some teachers actually refuse to change…and your enthusiasm for change
does not seem to make a difference. BUT, there are specific things you can do to
get even the most reluctant teachers on your staff to change the way they teach
and improve instruction in their classrooms. This session will show you how to
make this happen at your school.
2:15 – 2:45 OPTIONAL SESSION
Train the
Trainers
Many schools send a team of
teachers and administrators to a seminar in hopes that they will be able to come
back to the school and train everyone else. To support you in these efforts the
final session of the day will equip you to deliver the seminar material to your
staff in a way that creates real change. All attendees at this session will
receive the seminar power point, handout masters and other resources to assist
you. Because different staff members bring different backgrounds and skill sets
to the table, it is recommended (but not required) that at least 2 or 3 of your
team members stay for this session.
This seminar is available for one graduate credit from Viterbo University.

ALL seminar participants will receive a “Certificate of Completion” at the
conclusion of Session Three.
The cost of this seminar is $199.
